Ignore the Critics

They may say some words to make you sad. They may tell you that you do not speak sound English. They may tell you all sorts of nonsense just to make you sad and spoil your mood. They may even do things worse than that all because they want to make you sad. They may even talk ill of you in the presence of your friends because they want to be praised.

But let me tell you one thing, their hearts rejoice in evil. So many of them are not happy with your progress and always make effort to put you in sad mood. Sometimes those you call your friends are not really your friends. They are just your enemies in disguise. They will like to humiliate you and bring you down to nothing. You can get angry for some moments but the truth is that they cannot kill your spirit. The spirit is always alive. He lives.

In the book written by Chimamada Ngozi Adichie called Americana, a character in the book whose name is Ihemelu was humiliated and criticize by her American classmates. Some of them said she has bad accent and others said she is black. It is never easy for one to find himself in another tribe and speak with the accent of the tribe that is different from his or hers not to talk more of going to a country different from his or hers. Ifemelu found herself being engulfed by the white race. She found it difficult to speak in their midst because of some issues.

Irrespective of the challenges, she excelled. She did what others who felt they knew it all could not do. Others who claimed they could speak fluently were busy making noise and priding themselves while the black lady was doing well through her blog.

She made progress more than a lot of them that claimed to know it all and drive joy in making jest of other people. Ever seen some persons who claimed that they were experts in writing and communicating in English failed English language in their Senior Secondary School Certification examination? Leave the noise makers and move ahead.

Ignore their critics because many of them are jealous of you. Do as if you do not hear them when they try to bring you down.
You may shun any person that tries to tarnish your image or humiliate you when you didn't do any harm to him. When some critics are shun, they adjust and know that you are not a coward. Some can easily trample on your right if you always keep quiet.

You may not win it but you doing that will send signal to him that you are human and feel disappointed with all his utterances. You can ignore the critics but do not always give them room to always trample on your right. If there are possible legal actions to take when it gets to the apex, you can do that.

A prophet is not respect much in his father's land. Maybe you acquired a particular skill in a specific area and the people that are close to you do not believe in you, just move on. If possible, do not sale such your skills or the produce of your skill to anyone in your community or close to you.

Your work that people from different parts of the world see as quality is what people that are close to you see as inferior. Never mind them. You have familiarize so much with them and that may be one of the reasons why they could not believe in you. Move on and dig deeper.

What you should be mindful of is succeeding in those your dealings. When you succeed in that, those same persons that saw you as incompetent will be ashamed to come closer to you. They will be so ashamed because their initial believe that you are incompetent is thrown on soil. Be encouraged and be strong.

It is an empty drum that makes the loudest noise. Be calm and observant. When they open their mouths to vomit what they think they know how to do well (criticizing), pick some point that will make you excel in life. They spend their energy talking and making noise, and you gather your points for excellence from their stupidity. That is what a wise man or woman should do when he or she is in the midst of people that have first class in criticizing others.

Irrespective of their criticizing attitude, there are things you can pick and even make more from them. Maybe you are a writer, when they criticize you, you pick some points that will serve as new titles to your next work. When you sell the work, you make money while the stupid critics have wasted their energies.

Wisdom is basic. Apply wisdom in dealing with critics. When you are wise, you take advantage of what they feel they know that makes them "run their mouths" always. Stay focused and become great why they criticize people and become lazy. Their criticizing attitude makes them poor as they cannot make real money because their work is fault finding and they do not get paid for that. Ignore the critics because they are always lousy. Just stay focused always. No one can kill your spirit.
